2 Camp Tricks for a Good Night’s Sleep
For many people, the thought of abandoning their bed in exchange for a tent can leave them with little desire for snoozing in the great outdoors. But we can honestly say that some of the best night's sleep we’ve had was while camping. There’s something about sleeping under the stars with the sound of crickets and the breeze rustling through the trees that just knocks us out into a deep dreamy sleep. But let’s be real - there’s a lot more that goes into getting a good rest than just the natural ambiance. While there are tons of tricks for making your tent ready for relaxation, here are our top two tricks for getting a good night’s sleep while camping.
1. Double Sleeping Bag
It may sound luxurious to sleep in a two-person size sleeping bag if you’re a solo camper. But that’s exactly the point. Whether you’re snuggling up with your boo or stretching out for extra space, choosing a two-person sleeping bag was really a game changer for us Glamp Queens. Having the ability to still zip up all the way around is great during the colder months, but that additional space inside really makes a difference. There are a lot of two-person sleeping bags to choose from. We both have our own REI Two Person Sleeping Bag that we have found works great in both the summer and winter. If you’re a pet lover like us, having that additional space also means that your favorite furry friend can snuggle up inside all through the night.
2. Floor Mat
For those of us who have camped a time or two, we know just how quickly the inside of our tent can get dirty from tracking the great outdoors inside our sleeping quarters. Adding a floor mat (or Magic Carpet as we call it) to your tent can have several advantages. Not only will it help trap and eliminate muck from the outdoors and keeping your tent clean, it can also help with insulation. When the nights get cold during the fall and winter months, having additional layers between you and the ground will help trap in the heat and keep you cozy throughout the night. It can also make for a more pleasant space inside your tent when changing clothes and walking around barefoot during the early morning hours. Also, if your tent does not include a landing space already attached, try adding a welcome mat to the outside of your tent to provide a space for removing muddy boots.
